Free Game Friday 2/28/20: Scorched Earth

While not the first turn based artillery combat game and eclipsed in popularity by later games like Worms, Scorched Earh remains an all-time favorite of mine. In no. Small part because you can customize every element of it to your liking - explosion size, gravity, air viscosity, weather effects, and even how the arena borders behave - solid walls that stop shots, wrapping around, bouncing off at the same speed and angle, et cetera. If you shell out any amount of money for the registered version, you also gain access to the triple turreted tank and a level builder that let's you create your own custom mountains to blow up. Great fun for up to eight players, and proof that graphics will always take a back seat to solid gameplay.
