Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys Part 1

One of the four versions of Ys IV, this one was developed by Hudson Soft and released exclusively for the PC-Engine CD-ROM (Turbografx-CD) in 1993.  It's also a rarity among fan works in that it's not only fan-translated, but fan-dubbed; there is a patch available that converts all of the voiceover into English!

For those curious, the other three versions are:
  • Ys IV: Mask of the Sun, developed by Tonkinhouse and released on the Super Famicom in 1993, one month ahead of Dawn of Ys.
  • Mask of the Sun got a remake of its own on the Playstation 2 in 2005, this time developed by Taito.  Its full title is "Ys IV: Mask of the Sun - A New Theory"
  • Finally, Falcom themselves made their own version as "Ys IV: Memories of Celceta" and released it for the Playstation Vita in 2014.  This version combines elements of the two 90s versions, as well as some original elements, and incorporates the party-based style of gameplay first introduced in Ys Seven.
