Suddenly it's a Castlevania game.

Chikyu Star - Kasumi
Kasumi has pretty good power and speed, and her Shrike rune lets her do a double-damage attack with no real downside. She also has relatively decent MP, but her non-removable Shrike rune prevents you from using it for anything. Still, a solid pick for a ranged character.

Chiyu Star - Ivanov
Milich's servant paints parts of a mural in your castle as you bring him new types of paint, which is kind of neat (if hampered by the low resolution of early Playstation 1 gaming). Doesn't fight though.
Rating: N/A
Chiraku Star - Kasios
Another of Milich's servants, and she serves as the "music test" for the game, playing music for you on demand. Not a fighter, though.
Rating: N/A
Chiken Star - Qlon
Despite appearing to be about 9, he is the gatekeeper at Antei. He doesn't fight in normal battles, but oddly his qualification carries over into war battles, where he's part of the Knight Party.
Rating: N/A
Chisatsu Star - Georges
Another gambler-type character, who lets you play a card-matching game. That's about it, though.
Rating: N/A
Chizou Star - Lester
Another cook. Though thankfully a much better fighter than Antonio, he's ultimately nothing great. Merely okay fighting stats mean you probably won't use him much, if at all.
Rating: **
Chisou Star - Sarah
You go through a lengthy trading sequence to recruit her, and she turns out to be a very average long-range fighter. She gets a decent amount of MP, which is nice, but overall her stats just leave her as a middle-of-the-road character.
Rating: **
Chitou Star - Blackman
You wouldn't expect a farmer to be all that great in a fight, but he actually has some pretty good stats to support it - high attack and defense and he can equip Windspun Armor (the best in the game). Blackman is average to mediocre in every other respect, but he's someone you might want to give a try.
Rating: ***
Chisin Star - Kessler
A decent mid-ranged character with respectable power, skill and speed, but there's not a lot about him that stands out.
Rating: **
Chido Star - Ledon
Our old.... acquaintance Ledon finally joins up, though he never helps you fight. He can come in handy during war battles though, letting you scout out your opponent's next move.
Rating: N/A
Teni Star - Kage
Kage is pretty good stat-wise for a long-ranged character, boasting solid attack, blinding speed and skill and even surprisingly high Defense (though low HP and only decent Attack). He's also quite a boon during war battles, letting you see what your opponent's next move will be with no chance of failure. Not the best ranged fighter, but he will make your warring life much easier.
Rating: **
Chisa Star - Melodye
The only character who can use the Sound Rune, which she utilizes to change your menu screen sound effects. More of a novelty character than anything. Oh, and she doesn't fight either.
Rating: N/A
Tenfu Star - Kun To
Storyline-wise, he comes in handy by smuggling Fire Spears to the Liberation Army. Doesn't do much after that, though.
Rating: N/A
Chiziku Star - Mose
Another day, another average blacksmith character.
Rating: **
Chiaku Star - Ronnie Bell
A martial artist type, though not as good as Pahn due to her lower stats on the whole (save for speed). Also starts with the Hate Rune, which lets her use a fire-based, double-damage attack that doesn't cause her to be unbalanced. A respectable character, though she's outclassed by some others we'll be getting not long from now.
Rating: ***
Chimou Star - Alen
Teo's right-hand man is a warrior to rival Flik in sheer badassery, possessing the same high attack power and solid spellcasting abilities. Though Alen has lower HP, speed and skill than his counterpart, he does get more defense. He even starts with a Rage rune, which is quite awesome. A very worthy front-line fighter and spellcaster.
Rating: ****
Chiki Star - Grenseal
A slightly more magic-oriented knight, though he's no slouch physically either. While not as powerful as Flik or Alen, he can certainly hold his own. Another worthy character in the "mage fighter" archetype.
Rating: ***
Chihei Star - Kirke
Ho hum, another run-of-the-mill front line fighter without much to distinguish him that you probably won't use.
Rating: **
Chikyou Star - Moose
Wouldn't you know it, another average blacksmith!
Rating: **
Chitai Star - Marco
Plays the cup game with you, which is more than a touch abusable because the coin goes in the same pattern each time you reset the game. That's about all he does, though.
Rating: N/A
Chikei Star - Zen
A gardener who decorates your castle with flowers, and that's all there is to say.
Rating: N/A
Chian Star - Morgan
While I have a soft spot for the blind fighter archetype, Morgan is outclassed as martial artist characters go. His power and defense are worse than both Pahn and Ronnie Bell, and the rest of his stats are pretty low. He does okay in battle, but you've got much better options available by the time he rolls around.
Rating: **
Chijyu Star - Fukien
Fukien's most notable feature is that he has a non-removable Resurrection Rune, which is the only rune in Suikoden 1 that can resurrect characters mid-battle. Other than that, he's an archetypal mage - high Magic and Luck, but pretty bad everywhere else.
Rating: ***
Chisui Star - Hugo
He maintains your castle's library, which lets you read through Old Books and get a bit more worldly lore. Nifty. That's all he does, though.
Rating: N/A
Chiyu Star - Quincy
A ranged fighter with relatively high stats, but lacking the most important one in having only average Attack. Give her an attack-oriented rune for best results, or better yet, pick another long-ranged character.
Rating: **
Chisoku Star - Rubi
Rubi is similar to Cleo in a lot of ways, having relatively high stats across the board (save for a terrible Luck score) and being able to fight effectively at long range with both weapons and magic. She's not quite as durable as Cleo, but is another very good pick for a back row character.
Rating: ****
Chiyu Star - Eikei
Of all the martial artist characters, Eikei is definitely the least useful, with only average physical stats and weak speed, magic and luck. However, he does come with the extremely valuable Double Beat Rune, which allows a character to attack twice in a single turn! Take that from him and give it to one of your stronger fighters; it's much better spent elsewhere.
Rating: **
Chisu Star - Window
Matching his name, Window allows you to change your in-game window theme. He is also not a fighter in any form, despite being found at the Warrior's Village.
