Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Part 23

Gearing up to fight Lavos... I mean Calasmos.  Which means a handful of sidequests and a lot of drop farming and crafting!

In the interest of keeping these videos entertaining I did some miscellaneous farming off camera.

• Stole 30 pieces of Red Wood from the Vicious Stump Champs in the First Forest.  These can't be bought anywhere and you need quite a few for late-game crafting.
• We also need a bunch of Cumulonimboughs for later crafting, which are the common drop from Malicious Fruity Succubats.  I forgot how many I need exactly so I grabbed 20 for now.
  

In the course of doing this my party got pepped several times so I grabbed three rare drops.

• Another Hell Sabre from Barbatos in Champs Sauvage Whale Way Station (or Mt. Hotto)
• A Get-Up-And-Glow Stick from the Grey Gordons on Insula Australis (not great, but it's a better wand for Serena)
• A Sacred Spear from the Orc Chieftain on Insula Occidentalis, which is a quite powerful spear for Jade.

I also went ahead and got some of the character costumes via crafting.  Well, save Jade's swimsuit, which is an Octagonia Casino prize that costs 150,000 Tokens.

 

As you can see the casino prizes have been massively upgraded in Act 3.  We'll be back for quite a few Pep Pips in the course of all this so we can farm rare drops and XP.

We've acquired the recipe for Sylvando's Superstar Set (was in the book we got for turning in 90 Mini Medals), but we don't currently have enough ingredients to craft the Gladder Rags or the Tiara Tremendisina so it'll have to wait.

As seen before, farming those Devilry Drinker shields from Hooper Dupers in First Forest Whale Way Station is a very quick way to earn cash; they're a common drop and sell for 30,000 coins apiece.
