We get things done in Gecko and wrap up a few miscellaneous quests in Vault City, Modoc and the Den.
We also finally get a car, which is something that I sorely missed in Fallout 3 and New Vegas...

It's expositon theater as we return to Nisan and a plan is hatched to retake Bledavik.



Questions so far:

• Sigurd and Citan both mention having been part of the "Elements". Who are they?
• They also seem to know of Miang and express some "fear" within her.  Who exactly is she?
• Holy Mother Sophia and Lacan the painter have many similarities to Fei and Elly (as both Fei and Citan allude to).  What is their link?

Answered questions:

• Citan and Sigurd are both from Solaris, and know one another from their service under Ramsus in the Solarian military.  At that time, Citan was known as "Hyuga".  They both defected after they came to disagree with Ramsus' ideals.

Various factoids and symbolism

• Sophia is the Greek word for "Wisdom", and sophiology is a central idea in Hellenistic philosophy and religion.
• The name "Lacan" is a reference to Jacques Lacan, a psychoanalyst who pushed for a deeper examination of Sigmund Freud's works and introduced many influential concepts himself.
• Solaris' name is derived from "Sol", which is Latin for "Sun".
• The name "Etrenank" may be a mistranlation or corruption of "Etemenanki", a zigurrat from the ancient city of Babylon.

Wherein we explode an outhouse, then venture to Vault City to deal with arguably the most hated character in the entire Fallout franchise.

Oh, and I also discovered there's a suit of metal armor you can swipe inside Vault City itself.

Just be sure not to be seen by the guard or she'll unleash hell on you.  Hiding behind the locker as pictured seems to be good enough.

The plan to rescue Margie is underway.  And somewhat botched by my poor sense of direction.

Questions so far:

• Who is Wiseman, and how does he know Fei?
• Ramsus seems to recognize Fei's fighting style, as well as the red-haired man. What is their relationship?

Various factoids and symbolism

• A character very similar in appearance to Vanderkaum appears in Xenosaga, even having an almost identical name (Vanderkam).
• Wiseman's name is another reference to the three Magi (wise men) who visited Jesus after his birth.
• Ramsus' name may be a reference to Ramses, the name of several Egyptian pharaohs (including the one who had enslaved the Hebrews, later to be freed by Moses).

• Nisan is also a month on the Hebrew calendar.
• Heimdall is a god in Norse mythology, said to possess foreknowledge, keen eyesight and hearing and to be the guardian of Bifrost, the gateway to Asgard.
• Aegis is an object in Greek mythology, generally interpreted as a shield.
